Libby has two daughters, Ann and Erin. Ann and her husband Chris live in Newport News, and Ann is the lady behind our website. Their daughter, Eloise, is the first grandchild and now joined by Teddy, her brother. Erin and her husband, Justin, live in Richmond with Harper Mae, the third grandchild. Even though her girls moved out a while ago, their house is still very full, with an Australian Shepherd, Shelby, and three cats.
Rick and Libby got married and 2 days later, on January 2, 2014, bought Mike's Place, a neighborhood Irish Pub, with a 33-year history of being a cozy place to visit with friends and family. They were fortunate to inherit wonderful employees who helped them continue the tradition. On December 18, 2015, they renamed the restaurant Rick & Libby's.
Rick is an Accounting graduate of CNU (when it was still Christopher Newport College) and for over 20 years was employed in various capacities with Domino's Pizza. Many may recognize him as the pizza man in the window at Anna's Pizza near the shipyard, where he also worked for five years to provide some insight into private vs corporate restaurant ownership.
Libby graduated from NC State University with a BS in Agronomy and a Masters in Crop Science. Ask her about soil fertility... her favorite topic! She works full-time at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science in Gloucester Point and she and Rick make all of the desserts served in the restaurant.
